Meeting Template

This is a flexible template because not all groups are the same. The important points are to pray together, read the Scripture together, and use the questions to spark conversation together. Some groups will ask their members to read the Scripture prior to going on a run with each other and others will gather for a meal before anything else happens, and other groups will wait until everyone has a beer in their hands before praying together! Please adapt to your group.
  • 1. Welcome and set intention for the time together – pray, learn, and grow as a community.

    2. Opening Prayer – asking God’s to bless this gathering.

    3. Read together the Gospel passage from the previous Sunday.

    4. Either listen together to the preaching from the parish website or confirm that members have done so either at Mass or on their own prior to meeting.

    5. Leader facilitates a conversation using the questions for that week from the website.

    6. Closing prayer asking for petitions from the group. What can we pray for together this week?

  • Assign someone to lead prayer next week.

Confirm location for next week’s meeting.

  • STAY CONNECTED

While prayer and discussion of curriculum are key elements, the main emphasis of the group is the building of relationships to foster connection with Jesus and one another.

    CULTIVATE RELATIONSHIPS

Group members demonstrate the priority of relationships as they intentionally invest in each other inside and outside of regular group meetings.

    SHARE OWNERSHIP

Group members agree to encourage one another to participate in broad ownership of the group.

    PROVIDE CARE

Group members choose to be fully present and provide care and support for one another.

  • FOSTER AUTHENTICITY

The atmosphere should encourage openness and transparency among members. This is an environment where people should feel free to be themselves.

    PROVIDE CONFIDENTIALITY

For authenticity to occur, members must be able to trust that issues discussed within the group will not be shared outside the group.

    DEMONSTRATE RESPECT

Group members should never say anything that will embarrass their spouses or other members of the group.

PURPOSE : To provide a small group environment where people pursue authentic community and spiritual growth.
