Parent Teacher Guild Board Members
The Parent Teacher Guild (PTG) is the organization designed to foster support among parents who have chosen to send their children to Blessed Sacrament School. Following are the responsibilities of the guild.
1. Conducting Monthly Board Meetings
PTG Board Meetings are held each month. The efforts of the Board are primarily to support the school through the raising of funds. The PTG Board is not involved in the administration of the School or the setting of School Policy.
2. Oversee Parent Telephone Network
The PTG sets up and monitors a Parent Network. A parent is selected from each class to contact the other parents within that classroom to inform them about fund-raising or other school projects.
3. Service Hours
Blessed Sacrament School requires the parents of each school family to contribute a minimum of thirty-five (35) service hours to the school each year or pay a fee of $350.00 for the year in place of service.
Parents will receive a card at the beginning of the school year to record service hours. Use this card to keep track of service hours. It must be signed by a school representative or Board member for each activity performed. The card should be returned periodically so the Board can record those hours.
Service hours may be performed by a variety of ways including the following:
|
- Working at the Parish Carnival - Assisting with Sunday PTG Sales - Taking students to and from athletic events - Donating paper or school supplies - Helping in the School kitchen - Typing, correcting papers - Cleaning of school grounds - Assisting the School Board as a committee member - Copying papers for teacher |
- Supervising students in the yard at noon recess each day (12:00 to 1:00 pm) - Hospitality Committee (for special events) - Assisting with the Book Fair - Making costumes and decorations - Donating goodies for Bake Sales - Donating paper or school supplies - Donating equipment or furniture needed by the school |
4. Before School Traffic Circle
The traffic circle for the morning drop-off of children is as follows: Enter the parking lot through the Selma Avenue gate. Follow the cone path. Drop the children off at the corner of the apartment building fence and proceed to the gate on Cassill Street.
DO NOT enter the School in the morning from Cassill. DO NOT drop off your children before 7:30 a.m.
If you need to come into the school building for anything, please park your car in an area beyond the cones AFTER dropping your children off.
5. After School Traffic Circle
Cars will come in on Cassill Street/Sunset Blvd. lot and wait to be directed toward the lunch table area at 3:00 p.m. Your child(ren) can then enter the car on the passenger side and you will proceed straight ahead to the Selma Avenue exit.
Note: Carefully follow the directions of the teachers staffing the pick-up area. Your attention and cooperation will help the traffic pick-up to run smoothly and safely.
