First Aid
First Aid will be administered for minor cuts and burns. Medication is not furnished by the school and cannot be administered by school personnel.
Medication
ONLY under these conditions may any medicine be given at school (see forms in the back of school handbook):
To protect all children and to conform to the State Education Code, no student may bring any medication to school. ONLY medication prescribed by a health care provider may be taken during school hours.
If a student needs medication either for a few days or over an extended period of time, and it must be given during school hours, an Administration of Medication During School Hours must be requrested from the School Health Office. Physician/Health Care Provider will write directions on the form. It must be signed and dated.
The parents or guardian must deliver medications to the Health Office Coordinator in the original, labeled prescription bottle, together with the Medication Form signed by the health care provider and parent or guardian.
Students carrying inhalers must have a Physician or health care provider's release on file stating that he/she may have it with him/her while at school or at a school activity.
Medical Appointments
Parents are asked to keep medical appointments during school hours to a minimum. For early dismissal for medical or dental appointments, a note should be sent to the office in the morning. Parents should sign students out in the office in the morning. Parents should sign students out in the office and should NOT go to the classroom.
Health
Upon registration, each parent is asked to supply verification of immunization for polio, measles, rubella, mumps, diphteria-tetanus and a Mantoux TB skin test.
Students entering Kindergarten and Grade 1 are required to present a certificate from a physician desbribing the results of a physical examination, administered within the last six months.
