A monthly calendar of events is provided to parents each month via the Parent Envelope. The Parent Envelope is to be signed and returned after each time it is sent home.
Classroom Visitation Policy
Parents are not permitted in the classroom or lunch areas, as this will disturb the children and teachers. If parents want to monitor their child/children, they should discuss this possibility with the teacher. If the child forgets his or her lunch, please deliver it to the school office.
If the child must leave school for a medical or dental appointment, please write a note to your child's teacher or call the office. The child is to be picked up from the school at the appointed time. Do not go to the classroom.
Parent Conferences
Conferences between parent and teacher or parent and Principal are available on an appointment basis. If you wish to schedule an appointment, please contact the school office for an available time.
A formal parent conference is to be held by teacher and parent at the time of the first report card. The conferences are arranged by the teacher and parent.
Report Cards
Report Cards in parochial schools of the Archdiocese of Los Agneles are given at the completion of each quarter. They are distributed in the classrooms during the week following each grading period except Grading Period 1. Progress reports are administered mid-quarter on an as needed basis.
Homework
The purpose of homework is to reinforce material already taught and to foster habits of independent study. The following serves as a guide for parents:
- In addition to written assignments, students should read independently for 30 minutes each night. The practice of reading daily reinforces good reading habits.
- Assignment of written homework is limited to days in which school is in session. The following is a suggested homework schedule:
Grades K-2: approximately 1/2 hour
Grades 3-6: approximately one hour
Grades 7-8: approximately two hours
